If you love story aesthetics and premises (the back cover story description) you’re in the right place! Here are few of my projects:

Bound [currently drafting]

Alba is trapped–born with cerebral palsy and wheelchair-bound. After a traumatic car crash, she knows her family wishes she could communicate what she saw. Deep down, Alba’s relieved she can’t remember. But her own silence eventually haunts her more than the flashbacks.

Lia is heartbroken to see her twin sister hurt. And she wasn’t just in the car when it happened…she was driving. Unable to imagine their futures separated, she’s determined to help Alba and atone for her mistake. But it’s not easy to be relied on when her sister won’t talk to her and she might have broken their bond instead of just bones. Can she help Alba communicate so she won’t be forced to leave for college without her?

They travel from their home in the European mountains to the States for Camp Barnabas–a Christian summer camp for people with special needs and their siblings. When they return, a college scout could evaluate Alba’s ability to attend university with her difficulties. Maybe there’s hope for Alba’s future, but the sisters’ unspoken shames shed too much light on the crash…and what caused it.

Note: I don’t create the content in either of these places, and the songs/pins I add are to remind me of particular aspects of the story, so although I don’t recommend all of it (for example, a secular song that a character loves), it’s useful for reference.

Penned [set aside until I gained more experience]

A pen is her most-prized possession.

Anna is a whimsical bookish girl who lives in New York City. No friends and a missing brother define her life until Georgia—a spunky Pacific-Islander visiting New York from rural Maine—and an earthquake redefine everything. In the earthquake aftermath, her parents decide to move to Georgia’s hometown. Anna’s afraid she’ll lose contact with her brother when they change addresses, but before she can make a new start, a cryptic message arrives. She becomes obsessed with not losing her last chance to find her brother, no matter the cost.

But how do you trust God when everything you prayed and longed for is about to be ripped away again?

An Adventure Story [drafted]

Kayle lives for the summer.

But when she’s transplanted to an old farmhouse they inherited, her plans fall apart…and so do her expectations. Kayle is isolated from her friends, forced to share a room with her unpredictable older brother, and has to do humdrum chores and feed feisty chickens. She’s missing the adventures she craved, but when that starts shifting, she’s not sure how to accept the changes in her life or herself. Then what was going to be a tame club meeting turns into a revealing story and a wild adventure of their own.

Will this be the summer everything changes?

Cafeteria Currency [shelved after partial drafting]

After Rory returns to the United States from three months in Vietnam, switching countries and starting sixth grade is harder than she wanted. Then the Vietnemese money they brought back sparks her best friend’s idea to make a school-wide currency. Rory will lead the charge if it makes her sister happy again, but betrayal demands that she act beyond her natural leadership abilities–which is even harder.

Red Strips and Bright Stars [completed screenplay]

George Washington time travels to 2016 and meets Willow–an 11-year-old history buff who does everything herself. He comes from a place where you can’t survive without asking for help, and now that George knows he’ll be President, he needs her help to prepare. Except Willow learns something when she researches his life: George left days before his father died! He needs to say goodbye in time, even if Willow has to ask for help.
