I accidentally started a no-makeup club.
2.1K people saw this short video I made about not wearing makeup.
And their comments inspired me to actually go to my author photo session last Saturday without any on.
I think they turned out well…but let’s see what you all think.
Author photos sneak peek:

Photos by Melissa Pauquette.
I’m really excited about them!!
I even uploaded one of these as my new profile pic for my YouTube channel. 🙂
Speaking of, I’m doing a 7 clean book recs in 7 days challenge over there. Subscribe if you don’t want to miss anything.
Also, as promised, engagement pics:
For some reason these aren’t loading well. My apologies if only one or two of them show up!

What about you? What do you think about wearing makeup? Which set of pictures is better? Leave a comment with your thoughts. 🙂
You look so pretty!
Aw, thanks!!
Vella, you’re beautiful! I love this first pictures. Melissa did a great job! And I’ve never had your confidence to go outside without makeup. I’m going to watch your video:)
Thanks, Pam! She really did. 🙂
I absolutely adore that first picture of you. I love that it was one of the last ones I took, but probably my favorite out of the whole session!
Engagement pictures are sooo sweet! Bekah did an amazing job.
I also went a couple of years without makeup, but then didn’t like how much of a tired mom I looked like so I now usually wear it:) I did learn to just be OK without in that phase, though, and I am much more confident because of it.
Aw, thanks so much for the photos! 🙂 I appreciate you, Melissa.
That’s amazing! I wonder if someday when I’m a mom I’ll make the same choice.
I love the pictures! Both sessions look great. 🙂
I didn’t used to wear makeup (except mascara sometimes), but I ended up with some nasty acne scarring in the last few months, so I’ve definitely been wearing it more…. I’m hoping it will fade with time, though, and I still don’t wear makeup every day. Like you said… we’re imperfect and that’s okay.
Something one of my college professors said really changed the way I thought about this–we were talking about the symbolism of scars in literature, and he mentioned that Jesus, as the only perfect human being that we all strive to be like, was scarred, and His scars are still present in heaven, even though everything is perfected there! So if scars and other physical imperfections are a mark of love, we have no reason to be ashamed of them and try to cover them up (even if mine happen to be from something much less glorious than His!).
Aw, this is so sweet. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Grace! I wonder if Jesus keeps his scars in heaven because of what they are a mark of…in that case, acne scars prolly wouldn’t stay, but the scars of martyrs would?
P.S. I love this makeup brand that is not only clean, but GOOD for your skin. It’s called Kosas if you want to check it out.
