Jesus died so you’d never have to feel rejection again.
Before you tell me I’m crazy, hear me out.
He died so that we could be accepted by God. The cross means you’re accepted in heaven, you’re part of the church, and you’re adopted as a child of God. These are spiritual truths.
And the most important person to be accepted by is God.
Ze cross…
We don’t deserve it, but Jesus died on the cross because he wanted to accept us in his fierce love.
He wanted us to be accepted in the most important way by the most important person.
The God of the Universe accepts you if you call on his name in faith.
So boom! You’re accepted. It was part of his plan. So doesn’t it follow that he wants you to feel acceptance and not rejection if that’s what he extends to you?
The people who reject us are just that–people.
Don’t you think God is sad when we turn to people and feel rejected by people when we could turn to him and be accepted by him (who is, let me repeat: THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE).
No Shame
I’m not here to shame you for feeling rejection.
I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to feel rejected.
Who are we kidding? I’m here to tell myself that I don’t have to feel rejection.
Because this is what my pastor talked about on Sunday (hopefully Facebook users won’t leave ballistic comments this time, like they did the last time I posted about what my pastor said on Sunday).
It’s not like I’d never heard the concept before, but guys, it hit me this week.
- God doesn’t want us to feel rejected.
- God doesn’t want us to fear rejection.
- God doesn’t want us to reject each other (being judgmental).
He wants the exact opposite. And since he’s God, he provided a way for the exact opposite.
It’s as simple as believing the cross.
We need to believe that those spiritual truths are true, no matter what we experience.
Application
Whenever I feel rejected from now on, I will remind myself (even say it out loud if I have to!) that Jesus accepted me at the cross.
And that’s the only acceptance that matters for every moment of every day for all of eternity.
Oof, that’s good. (Why are these always so timely, lol.)
Blame God, not me. 😉 Jk…these last two articles have actually impacted people. Praise God! That’s what I hoped to do with my writing.
Ouch. Bullseye. Well done. Thanks Vella.
Thanks Brad!
