I try not to give advice anymore. I know that I don’t know what I’m doing. So, before you start reading, know that I’m not here to give you advice.
I’m here to help YOU fill your life with LIGHT.
And you know where that light comes from? Jesus. <3
It’s so easy to reject life without realizing it…
I did an Instagram Live with Alli Prince today. (She’s cool. She wrote this #1 New Release time travel novel.)
On the Live, we got to talking about the concept of moving on.
When we refuse to move on, we’re actually refusing to accept life. And I know this isn’t a new concept, but have you ever thought about what it means to reject life?
It sounds scary, but we do it every day.
Have you ever thought about what it means to reject life?
Overwhelmed by emotions so you numb yourself?
REJECTING LIFE
Anxious and bitter about something that happened ten years ago?
REJECTING LIFE
There are so many grief movies that are all about what it means to move on, and I think they’re so popular because moving on is a process of accepting life.
Filling your life with LIGHT is a process of accepting life.
Expressing gratitude is a process of accepting life.
Dancing with the volume turned up is a process of accepting life.
I want this for you…
I want to help you accept life, exactly as it is. To live fully and abundantly, no caveats, regrets, or fear.
Because fear is a way of rejecting life.
Fear thinks life is too dangerous to enjoy. Fear lies to you. Fear steals from you.
Perfectionism is a way of rejecting life.
Perfectionism wants control. It tries to manage life. It doesn’t just accept life the way that it is, because one of the truths of life is that humans–you, me–are messy. And we can never reach perfection.
Accepting that I’m not perfect is one of the most beautiful acts of accepting life that I’ve ever done.
So today, I’m going look at all that God made, at every moment and experience and mess in my life, and tell him thank you. I hope you can do that too.
Did you resonate with this? Share your thoughts in the comments! I’d really like to know if this served you or not, so that I can pray and adjust my content accordingly.
I can relate more than I’d like to admit! Thanks for pointing out that even fear and perfectionism are ways of rejecting life. Grieving is even of what we think would have been our future had we chosen different paths. Recently I laid all of this out to the Lord. He makes beauty out of our messes!
Thanks for sharing, Denise. <3 I've absolutely felt the same way, and letting God love me in my mess led to some of the most tender moments I've ever had with him.
Oof! This was convicting, Vella! I often find myself numbing my feelings by scrolling social media or reading or listening to music. It was a good reminder to embrace the life God made.
Yes! Embracing the life God made–not just generally, but the life he made for you–is such a beautiful thing!
This definitely resonated with me, friend! Working through fear and accepting the messy parts of us that we don’t want is something I try to explore in my writing because, as you know, I’ve had to grapple with it in life.
Thank you for this article! It was a very good reminder.
I’m so happy to hear that, Anna! Fiction that reps characters with disabilities is so wonderful for talking about deeper things that we all need to hear.
