This week, I felt afraid for no reason.
So I decided to pray.
- I actually prayed on camera (for the first time), and believe it or not, that helped me focus on praying in that moment!
- It also helped me bless other people, because I shared the video on my Instagram.
- It was beautiful because it reminded me that prayer is my normal response now.
It took me a long time to actually connect the dots in my head between “I feel anxious” and “I should pray.”
One of the biggest things that helped me was praying out loud. It’s also easier when no one else is around and/or I’m outside.
Either way, praise Jesus that prayer is a normal response for me when I feel anxious!
THIS MINDSET SHIFT HELPED ME SO MUCH…
I realized something. We don’t have to wait for something to be wrong before we pray.
(Obviously.)
But not only do we not need for something to be wrong before we pray, but we can intentionally pray for the LIGHT in our lives.
Instead of praying: “God, please stop the panic attacks.”
We can pray: “God, will you fill my mind with your light?”
Isn’t that amazing!? So let’s dive in, here are 5 areas of your life to invite God’s light into today:
#1 – YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE
Here’s a few prayers to invite God’s light into every nook and cranny of your spiritual life:
- I want to crave your Word and enjoy reading the Bible.
- Please give me wisdom.
- Humble me, Lord. I give you my pride.
#2 – YOUR ONLINE LIFE
Here’s a few prayers to invite God’s light into every nook and cranny of your online life:
- Help me spread your love in the online communities that I’m a part of.
- God, I ask you into my feed.
- Will you guide my experience of YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook?
- Will you convict me of anything I’m doing online that doesn’t glorify you?
- Please bring light-filled emails to the top of my inbox.
#3 – YOUR THOUGHT LIFE
Here’s a few prayers to invite God’s light into every nook and cranny of your thought life:
- Abba, father, please help me to view you as loving and near, instead of far away.
- I want to live like I’m good enough for you because of the cross, not like I have to earn my place.
- Please destroy the lies of the enemy that I believe right now.
#4 – YOUR SOCIAL LIFE
Here’s a few prayers to invite God’s light into every nook and cranny of your social life:
- Please take control of my love life.
- You are the center of my relationships. Help me live like that’s true.
- God, thank you for the good friends you’ve given me. I’m grateful!
- OR God, I really want friends I can go deep with. Will you bring those into my life?
#5 – YOUR LIFESTYLE
Here’s a few prayers to invite God’s light into every nook and cranny of your lifestyle:
- Please heal the things that I feel are wrong with my body.
- Let the physical spaces that I’m in be filled with more of your light, spiritually and literally.
- God, you decide where I go and what I do with my life. You can change my whole lifestyle if you want to! You’re invited to shape me and my lifestyle in every way, and I trust that you’ll do it well.
These prayers might feel a little basic to you. (Guys, I’m feeling so vulnerable right now. XD)
BUT, that doesn’t change how powerful it is to invite God’s LIGHT into every area of your life. If you haven’t yet, go somewhere where you feel safe and pray a few of these prayers out loud.
God is listening.
What do you think? Do you like to pray out loud? Did any of these prayers connect with you? Leave your thoughts in a comment below.
I have something new to share with you! Another way to fill your life with LIGHT is to listen to upbeat, clean music. Grab the playlist that helped me to smile more and cry less.
Praying out loud is better for me in general… though I get really awkward when I’m around other people since I freak out going “BUT WHAT IF I SAY SOMETHING DUMB??” (I know the Spirit gets the message to God un-messily, so my communication to HIM isn’t a problem… but when others get involved, I become very aware of my rambling and get embarrassed.)
Which ones of these really are ones I need to use (on the daily?)… Thought life and lifestyle. Multiple in each. Though all of the ones I don’t have would probably be good and useful to put in my rotation.
Thanks for sharing, Rose! I used to freak out when I prayed in front of people. I promise, it gets so much easier with time. <3
I'm so glad the prayers are a blessing for you! I hope you give yourself grace in saying them every day. I'm sure you know that God hears your heart for him to guide your life, whether you pray every prayer or not.
